I finally got a couple plants in their containers!
My mother-in-law gave me some snow peas, squash & pumpkin!
The snow peas look a bit sad, but the rest is looking great!
Do you CG?

That’s Terra-speak for ‘container garden’
Have you tried it? Do you currently CG?
What are your tips and tricks?
I’m thinking of starting my garden with plants (as opposed to seeds…) At least just the first few things, to get a handle on it all…
Am I a cheater? lol

First thoughts

I’ve been wanting to container garden (?) for some time now, however, living situations haven’t permitted it. Finally, we’ll be renting a house that provides the perfect opportunity to do this!
I’m excited to start this adventure and I would LOVE any help, ideas, tipes, etc… along the way.
I talked with a friend tonight to get some first hand information (the Internet is a GREAT resource, but sheesh, where to begin?!) I told her what I wanted to plant to start and she gave me some great pointers (as well as a desire to plant about 30 other things, lol!)
Squash – My boys LOVE eating squash. I’m not the biggest fan (OK, I really only like it at Japanese steak houses, lol). Her tips: Squash is a rapid grower, they have big leaves and will vine out of the pot – get a BIG pot!
Cucumbers – I LOVE cucumbers! Yummmy! Her tips: These will vine out as well, you can train them w/ a wire cone, a trellis or just let them grow out (but be prepared for critters)
Carrots – Both boys love carrots too. She suggested doing short and sweet kind (sounds great to me!)
Lettuce – We love salads and this would cut down on so much money wasted at the store! She suggested getting the leafy kind and not the kind that grows a head, that way you can cut what you need, when you need it.
Some other yummy foods she suggested – cherry tomatoes (or regular, which, I may do, we don’t eat them, but it’d make GREAT sauce!), strawberries (YUM!), beans (these grow quick and my toddler could see results quickly!), blueberries (double YUM!), melons and cherries!
Another friend told me about growing pineapples, so I might add that to the list too!
